Thank you for your interest in the Carolina Junior Hurricanes, the Carolinas' premier travel hockey association.
There are four classifications of prospective Junior Canes, each with its own path to becoming a member of our team. Please find your classification below and learn about how to join us for the 2025-26 season.
8U (2017 or 2018 Birth Year)
Our Super 8 (8U) program is a non-tryout based, open registration, first-come first-serve program. Registration will open in mid-to-late June.
LOCAL ATHLETES
Families who currently reside in the area.
TIER 1 & TIER 2 OPEN TRYOUTS
For nearly all athletes, the path towards becoming a member of the Junior Canes begins at open tryouts for both Tier 1 and Tier 2.

RELOCATING ATHLETES
Families who currently reside outside of the area, but will be relocating to the area for the 2025-26 season.
TIER 1 & TIER 2 OPEN TRYOUTS
It is strongly recommended that all athletes make plans to attend open tryouts, even if your move date falls after the completion of tryouts.
- Tier 1 AAA open tryouts have been completed. To inquire about any potential openings, please fill out this form.
- Tier 2 open tryouts will be held on the weekend of May 16th-18th.
OUT OF STATE ATHLETES
Families who currently reside outside of North or South Carolina and do not plan to relocate for the 2025-26 season.
Tier 1 only. The Junior Canes do not offer Tier 2 programming for athletes who cannot commit to 2-3 weeknight practices throughout the season.

The Carolina Junior Hurricanes are a highly competitive program, and our coaches reserve the right to extend roster offers to recruited athletes while remaining compliant with USA Hockey timelines and methods of contact.
