Tier 1 AAA

Program overview

The Junior Canes are nationally recognized as the premier Tier 1 AAA program in the Southeast.

Tier 1 AAA is a highly-competitive, tryout-based program that attracts top players throughout North Carolina and surrounding states. Our program is the only program in the Carolinas approved by USA Hockey and CAHA to offer continuous Tier 1 AAA hockey through the prime years from 11U through 16U, and the only AAA program in North or South Carolina ranked among the top 150 associations in the US (33rd).

Our 14U, 15U and 16U AAA teams compete for the Southeastern Tier 1 District Championships for the right to advance to USA Hockey’s national championships.

In conjunction with the Carolina Hurricanes and Canes Youth and Amateur Hockey, our 12U AAA team represents North Carolina in the annual Tournoi de PeeWee in Quebec, the world’s most famous youth hockey tournament.
